Safe Moving Tips for Computers

August 1, 2009 · Posted in Moving Tips · Comment

When it comes to moving, professional movers swear that the second hardest to move–piano being the first–is electronic equipments which include computers. Computers are a staple to every home and of course, they are a very valuable equipment in offices. Commercial moves require professional movers a good whole day just to ensure the office’s computers are properly packed and boxed.

If it’s that tedious for professional movers then what more to DIY moves? Before you fret and howl, it is good to know that it can be done albeit carefully. Just follow these easy to do steps for a successful computer moving:

·    Backup files are important. Before we go on too far, it is best to make backup files first since you’ll never know what can happen while moving. Copy all important files to flash drives or even a lowly CD, anything to protect your valuable documents and data is fine.
·    Its original box would be the best candidate to pack your computer in. Unfortunately, more often than not these boxes get discarded once the computer is properly set up. Before you detach anything, try to determine first where you’ll put the pieces in. Make sure that it won’t slide or tip sideways when inside. Use paddings when needed.
·    Detach accessories first like mouse, keyboards and webcam and pack them separately from major components of your computer. Wrap them accordingly so they won’t break during the move.
·    Place all parts flat and standing up especially the CPU and monitor. Wrap everything with protective material and don’t forget to label your boxes with “this side up” so the movers would know which side to carry them.

Fort Lauderdale Transportation

If you’re expecting to move in Fort Lauderdale, then you might be interested how its transportation system works. Fort Lauderdale is one of the most prominent cities in Florida. The city is made popular by its famous canal system comparable to that of Venice; due to this reason and the fact that the city is a yachting center too, tourists visit the city on a fairly regular basis. For college students, this was once a notorious spot for spring breaks but overtime its tourism leaned on further towards attracting more affluent people from all over the globe. With that said, it is only understandable that Fort Lauderdale relies heavily on its tourism industry.

With an effort to make life easier for traveling individuals and for locals as well, Fort Lauderdale’s transportation system is highly organized, whether you’re coming in by land, water or air. Moreover, since many traveling parties considered their short visit as memorable and quite comforting, most of them ultimately decide in staying for good. For those commuting by land, there’s the county’s bus system that will take you to key points of the city; the same goes for the city’s railway system which connects major cities to South Florida airports.

The city’s main airport which is situated at Dania Beach offers the lowest of airfares which makes it all the more darling of travelers worldwide. Of course, there’s Port Everglades which is a busy cruise port and docking area. Considering these transportation options available for you, moving in the city certainly won’t pose a problem for both you and the moving company.

One of the most important factors that has to be considered when moving is employment or at least an employment opportunity upon arrival. When moving to Tampa, Florida, it’s best to have an idea of what job opportunities you’ll most likely find in this city and what are your chances of getting one considering your educational background, skills and employment history. With that said, prepare all necessary documents prior to moving so you won’t have to go back for them once you’ve moved.

Before you leave, explore job opportunities that are possibly waiting for you in the Sunshine State. Familiarize yourself of Tampa’s market by talking to friends and families living in the area. Start your research by recognizing your skills and strength which means that if you heavily specialize in one field then have a look at this area first. Moreover, explore other skills that you might have but haven’t yet discovered, sometimes, these “special skills” can generate more money than your current specialization. When job hunting, remember that not all cities are created equal and what sells in a particular city doesn’t mean it can also do well in another so it really pays to do your legwork first before it’s too late.

Tampa’s famous landmarks are parks, theaters, shops and restaurants. It relies heavily on its tourism and gaming industry although there are a handful of promising companies moving there as of the time being. If your line of work is exactly or even related, to these fields, then it’s safe to say that you have a chance there. These fields are of tourism and services. Many parts of Tampa are currently undergoing some developments and may need additional workers when done.
